Needle Eye is a typeface based on the rounded and narrow feel of a needle entrance where the point of a string is threaded through. The x-heights are designed to conserve as much space as possible, be it an Upper case or a lower-case letter. All stems end in a flat top to keep a consistent height and formality between letters. Each character is to be spaced with enough distance to keep legibility possible at the smallest possible legible point size.
INSPIRATION
This typeface takes inspiration from gothic black letters while still having a contemporary sans serif flair in its consistency. Typefaces like “League Gothic” by Morris Fuller Bentonfor, “Fit” by David Jonathan Ross, and “Carol Gothic” by Alexander Lubovenko played a large role in forming this typeface. Verticality was deeply considered in forming these typefaces to conserve space and create tension.
